Arbely
Meet Arbely, Yoga Instructor
Arbely was born in Mexico and grew up in Montréal, Canada. She has been teaching yoga for over 15 years, and has been travelling the world teaching yoga since 2021. She has led 11 yoga teacher trainings between Canada, Peru & Thailand.
Arbely was drawn to sports at a very young age, and started competing in rhythmic gymnastics when she was nine. After leaving the sport in her adolescence, she was searching for something healing yet physical, and discovered Modo Yoga at 18 years old. This was the first time in her life that she was able to accept her body, and love it for what it can do, without feeling like she needed to change it or constantly strive to be “better”. The transformation within was so pivotal, that she knew she had found her path and that she needed to share this practice. A year later at 19, she went to Kerala, India and completed a 500 hr teacher training in 2009, followed by five more yoga teacher trainings, resulting in over 1000 hours of yoga education.
Her main practice is Ashtanga Yoga, and has had the privilege to make a few trips to study Ashtanga at the source in Mysore, India under Sharath Jois. She has studied with many experienced teachers including Ted Grand, Jess Robertson, Ryan Leier, David Swenson, David Robson, Taylor Hunt, Iain Grysak and assisted Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann in Bali.
Her approach to teaching is compassionate yet firm, and she believes the practice of yoga can be made accessible to anyone. She is forever in awe of the wisdom of the practice, and grateful to be able to share her passion with anyone who wants to learn.
She can speak with you in English, French and Spanish.
